Course Booking and Payment
Applications
Applicants must be 21 years or over (18-21 years old may be accepted subject to an interview).
An application is not complete until The Coastal Academy have confirmed that the place is available and the applicant has made a payment.
The Coastal Academy has the right to refuse an application.
Course Eligibility and Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet any published entry requirements before enrolment.
If an applicant does not meet the required entry criteria, we reserve the right to refuse enrolment or certification.
No refund will be due where a participant has provided inaccurate information regarding eligibility.
Payments
The full deposit must be paid 4 weeks before the course begins. A place on the course is not guaranteed until the required deposit has been received.
The balance of the full course fee is due before the first day of the course and must be made by bank transfer.
OR
The balance can be paid by monthly standing orders from your bank*.*Proof of a standing order being set up to come out of your bank on the 1st of the month following the start of your course, alongside signed Coastal Academy terms and conditions must returned to us before the course begins.
Once the course has begun you are liable for the full course fee, whether you complete the course or not. The Coastal Academy will take legal proceeding if necessary to recover the full fee if payments are stopped early.
Failure to make payments when due may result in suspension from the course or withdrawal of access to course materials.
For learners paying by instalment, failure to pay the deposit and provide confirmation that standing order payments have been set up by the due date and before the commencement of the course, may result in the cancellation of their place.
Application changes
The Coastal Academy may, at its sole discretion, allow transfer to an alternative Course date.
If you want to change on to a later course you can do so up to 4 weeks before your course begins, providing a place is available on that course.
If you wish to change on to a later course less than 2 weeks before your course begins you can do so, with a transfer fee of £100, providing a place is available on that course.
You cannot change your course less than 2 weeks before it starts.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
Consumer Cancellation Rights
With online booking, you may have the right to cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
If the course begins during the 14-day cancellation period and you have already received access to training, online content or course materials, you acknowledge that:
· You may lose your right to a full refund.
· We may deduct an amount reflecting services already provided.
Early cancellation
· If you wish to cancel your place up to 4 weeks before the course begins, you must notify us in writing (or email) and your payments will be refunded, minus a £100 administration charge.
· If you wish to cancel between 4 and 2 weeks before the course begins you must notify us in writing (or email) and your payments will be refunded, minus a £250 administration and cancellation charge.
· The full deposit is non-refundable less than 2 weeks before the course begins.
Failure to attend the course without notice will be treated as a cancellation and no refund will be payable.
Learners paying by instalment remain liable for the full fee once the course has begun.

If we have to cancel a course due to unforeseen circumstances, we will give a full refund on the course fees paid. -
Attendance Requirements
Students must attend a minimum of 80% of scheduled teaching hours and complete all mandatory practical assessments in order to qualify for certification.
The Coastal Academy reserves the right to require additional training, reassessment or course repetition where attendance falls below the required standard.
Excessive lateness, non-attendance, or failure to complete required coursework may result in non-certification.
Learners must notify us as soon as possible if they are not able to attend a class.

Assessment and Certification
Assessment methods Written theory question papers, Practical classroom assessments, written coursework anatomy and theory papers, written case studies demonstrating applied knowledge of assessment and treatment protocols.
Pass marks 60% in theory assessments. During practical assessments, students need to demonstrate there is a clear understanding of functional anatomy and the technique being demonstrated. Treatment outcomes need to display a safe and effective application off the technique.
Reassessment opportunities Students can we retake any assessment at no extra charge within class scheduled hours, but may incur a fee if organised outside of the classroom at different venues.
Certification criteria Certification is subject to successful completion of all practical and theoretical assessments, demonstration of safe practice and payment of all outstanding course fees.
The decision of the Academy regarding competency and certification shall be final, subject to the Coastal Academy's Appeals Procedure.
Course completion
It is possible to attend all the classes and pass the exams but still have written assignments or Case studies yet to complete.
If you complete the final assignments more than one-year after passing the practical exam then you will be required to retake this because we have to ensure you meet all the assessment criteria at the time when STTQ approves your certification.
STTQ allows up to 2 years from the start of your course to complete the qualification.Certification is withheld until fees are paid in full and will only be issued only where all course requirements have been successfully completed.
Learners are responsible for ensuring that the qualification meets the requirements of any insurers, employers, professional bodies, and regulatory organisations relevant to their individual circumstances and location.
Certification gives no guarantee regarding
• Future income, employment, business success,
• Professional body membership, insurance acceptance.
• The eligibility to practise in jurisdictions outside the UK
Academic Integrity
All assignments, case studies and assessments must be the learner’s own work.
Plagiarism, cheating, falsification of records or assessment misconduct may result in disciplinary action or non-certification.
Submitted work generated wholly or substantially by artificial intelligence (AI) tools as the learner's own work will be treated as academic misconduct and may result in disciplinary action or non-certification.

Practical Training and Informed Consent
Students should acknowledge:
They will participate in practical sessions.
Students understand that practical soft tissue therapy techniques form an essential component of the course and agree to participate in practical sessions unless alternative arrangements are approved.
They may both give and receive treatment.
Touch is an essential part of training.
They must disclose relevant health conditions.
Consent to Receive Treatment
Treatment Consent
By enrolling on the Course, the Student acknowledges and accepts that practical treatments may be performed by fellow Students who are in training and under Tutor supervision.
While reasonable care will be taken to ensure safe practice, the Student accepts that practical training carries an inherent risk of minor discomfort, soreness or temporary adverse reactions commonly associated with soft tissue therapy and massage treatments.
Practical Training Participation
Participation in practical sessions is a mandatory requirement for successful completion of the Course unless alternative arrangements have been agreed in writing by the Coastal Academy.
Students may decline a specific treatment or technique where they have a legitimate medical, religious, cultural or personal concern. The Coastal Academy will make reasonable efforts to accommodate such concerns where possible.
Medical Disclosure

Conditions that may affect participation
Health Declaration
Students must disclose any medical condition, injury, allergy, pregnancy, recent surgery or other health concern that may affect their participation in practical training.
The Coastal Academy reserves the right to request further medical information or written clearance from a healthcare professional before permitting participation in practical sessions.
Failure to disclose relevant health information may result in exclusion from practical training activities and may affect eligibility for certification.
Confidentiality
Students must treat all client information, case studies, health information and personal disclosures shared during the Course as confidential.
Information obtained during practical sessions must not be disclosed to any third party without the express consent of the individual concerned.
This obligation continues after completion of the Course.

Student Conduct and Professional Behaviour
Professional Standards
Students are expected to behave in a professional, respectful and courteous manner towards Tutors, fellow Students, venue staff and members of the public at all times.
The following behaviours may result in immediate removal from the Course:
Harassment, discrimination or bullying.
Inappropriate touching or breach of professional boundaries.
Aggressive, threatening or abusive behaviour.
Attending training under the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs.
Conduct that compromises the safety or wellbeing of others.
The Coastal Academy reserves the right to remove any student whose conduct creates an unsafe or disruptive learning environment.

Students and tutors must:

Any safeguarding concern should be reported immediately to The Coastal Academy Director.
The Coastal Academy will:

Emergency Situations
Where an individual is believed to be at immediate risk of harm:
Emergency services will be contacted.
Appropriate safeguarding agencies may be informed.

Photography, Recording and Social Media
Students may record practical demonstrations, assessments or teaching sessions with prior permission from The Coastal Academy and all students.
Videos and photographs of class demonstrations must not be shared online or placed on social media sites.
Photographs may be taken to be used by the individual.
Marketing images may be used.
Photographs or videos taken during training must not be shared publicly where another individual can be identified without their consent.
Intellectual Property
Copyright and Intellectual Property
All course manuals, presentations, assessment materials, handouts, videos and learning resources remain the intellectual property of The Coastal Academy of Soft Tissue Therapy.
Students may use course materials solely for their own personal learning and professional practice.
Materials may not be copied, reproduced, distributed, sold, published or used to deliver training courses without prior written consent from The Coastal Academy.
Online content cannot be shared
Course materials may not be reproduced, distributed or used to deliver competing training programmes without written permission.

If you complete the final assignments more than one-year after passing the practical exam then you will be required to retake this because we have to ensure you meet all the assessment criteria at the time when STTQ approves your certification.
STTQ allows up to 3 years from the start of your course to complete the qualification.Certification is withheld until fees are paid in full.
5. Practical Training and Informed Consent
Students should acknowledge:
They will participate in practical sessions.
Students understand that practical soft tissue therapy techniques form an essential component of the course and agree to participate in practical sessions unless alternative arrangements are approved.
They may both give and receive treatment.
Touch is an essential part of training.
They must disclose relevant health conditions.
Consent to Receive Treatment

· By enrolling on the Course, the Student acknowledges and accepts that practical treatments may be performed by fellow Students who are in training and under Tutor supervision.
· While reasonable care will be taken to ensure safe practice, the Student accepts that practical training carries an inherent risk of minor discomfort, soreness or temporary adverse reactions commonly associated with soft tissue therapy and massage treatments.
Practical Training Participation
Practical Participation
· Participation in practical sessions is a mandatory requirement for successful completion of the Course unless alternative arrangements have been agreed in writing by the Academy.
· Students may decline a specific treatment or technique where they have a legitimate medical, religious, cultural or personal concern. The Academy will make reasonable efforts to accommodate such concerns where possible.
6. Medical Disclosure

· Students must disclose any medical condition, injury, allergy, pregnancy, recent surgery or other health concern that may affect their participation in practical training.
· The Academy reserves the right to request further medical information or written clearance from a healthcare professional before permitting participation in practical sessions.
· Failure to disclose relevant health information may result in exclusion from practical training activities and may affect eligibility for certification.
Confidentiality
· Students must treat all client information, case studies, health information and personal disclosures shared during the Course as confidential.
· Information obtained during practical sessions must not be disclosed to any third party without the express consent of the individual concerned.
· This obligation continues after completion of the Course.

8. Student Conduct and Professional Behaviour
Professional Standards
Students are expected to behave in a professional, respectful and courteous manner towards Tutors, fellow Students, venue staff and members of the public at all times.
The following behaviours may result in immediate removal from the Course:
Harassment, discrimination or bullying.
Inappropriate touching or breach of professional boundaries.
Aggressive, threatening or abusive behaviour.
Attending training under the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs.
Conduct that compromises the safety or wellbeing of others.
The Academy reserves the right to remove any student whose conduct creates an unsafe or disruptive learning environment.

11. Photography, Recording and Social Media
· Students may record practical demonstrations, assessments or teaching sessions with prior permission from the Academy and all students.
Videos and photographs of class demonstrations must not be shared online or placed on social media sites.
Photographs may be taken to be used by the individual.
Marketing images may be used.
Photographs or videos taken during training must not be shared publicly where another individual can be identified without their consent.
12.Intellectual Property
Copyright and Intellectual Property
· All course manuals, presentations, assessment materials, handouts, videos and learning resources remain the intellectual property of The Coastal Academy of Soft Tissue Therapy.
· Students may use course materials solely for their own personal learning and professional practice.
· Materials may not be copied, reproduced, distributed, sold, published or used to deliver training courses without prior written consent from the Academy.
· Online content cannot be shared
· Course materials may not be reproduced, distributed or used to deliver competing training programmes without written permission.
13. Health and Safety
Students should agree to:

14. Limitation of Liability
The Academy shall not be liable for losses arising from a student's inability to complete the course except where required by law.
